The mission of the Institute of Biblical Anthropology is the scholarly study
of the Biblical world in its broadest sense and humanity's relation to God. The general foci are the cultures of the
Bible, Early Christianity, Late Antiquity, and the historical Church. It is crucial to better understand the cultures
that produced scriptures and the church in order to properly study the Bible. While our primary orientation is anthropological
and historical, we employ a multi-disciplinary approach to the Bible and the Church, utlizing the methodologies of anthropology,
archaeology, geography, history, language, psychology, sociology, religious studies, and theology.
The IBA is naturally concerned with the historicity of the Bible, as this idea is at the root
of its mission. This also includes research and dissemination of subjects which are preternatural in character, as well
as more conventional or quantifiable issues of study.
At its heart, the IBA is a grass roots organization. We exist both to provide earnest
scholarly work, but more importantly to share the results with the local, church, national, and global communities.
As such, we hope to foster interdenominational dialogue as a secondary function.
