RESEARCH

The qualified staff at USAV offer research services in the subjects of archaeology, ethnology, and history.  Archives, oral histories, historical naratives, cemetery research, documents, and all resources that can be collected and accessed are put to use in the research conducted by USAV.
Possible areas of research include (but are certainly not limited to):

TEXAS ARCHAEOLOGY
TEXAS HISTORY
LOCAL HISTORY
CHURCH HISTORY
RELIGION
ETHNOGRAPHIES
FAMILY HISTORY
FOLKLORE, LEGENDS, AND MYTHOLOGY
BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGY
BIBLICAL HISTORY
AMERICAN HISTORY

FIELD WORK

Most research will lead to fieldwork in some form another.  In the case of archaeological projects, survey, testing, mapping, and excavation services are provided by USAV.  In the case of ethnological research, interviews, culture histories, family histories, and ethnographies are also within the scope of USAV services.  The field work, of course, will depend on the nature of the project.

REPORT PRODUCTION

Upon completion of a phase in a project, or the project in its totality, the USAV staff will produce a report.  As with field work, the type of report will depend on the sort of project.  Archaeological reports, ethnographies, and histories are examples of the type of reports produced.  Reports are presented to the interested party, to the academic community, and is made accessible to the public.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

On occasion, there will be chances for the public to take advantage of unique opportunities with USAV.  These include archaeological fieldwork and ethnographical research.  We are always happy to provide opportunity for such experiences, as education is one of our priorities.  After a brief training seminar students and citizens can take part in our research projects at our discretion.  USAV will post announcements concerning these opportunities.
